New Dancers On The Scene Stun Judges To Win WLDC Regionals In Salsa Cabaret
Written by Kenli Schoolland

As Antoni Moya Pino & Josymar Jimenez stepped onto the stage in Rancagua, Chile to compete in the South American regionals for the World Latin Dance Cup they were greeted with just mild applause.

But after a stunningly fast-paced Salsa Cabaret show, filled with effortless flips and spins these two newcomers left the stage to wild applause and a standing ovation. In just 2 minutes they had become stars.

Watch their spectacular choreography here:

Antoni and Josymar were the clear winners of the Salsa Cabaret category and are now on their way to compete in the World Latin Dance Cup this December in Orlando, Florida.

Meet Antoni and Josymar:

Two years ago, Josymar was offered an opportunity to leave Venezuela and its struggling economy with a dance troupe traveling to Turkey. There she met Antoni, also from Venezuela.

For four months they performed at a dinner and show venue in Istanbul. With two performances each night they were given ample time to practice perfecting their art.

Seizing another opportunity, Antoni and Josymar then moved on to Morocco where they performed for another year and a half. This time, as partners.

It was a grueling time. The two were so busy that even though Egypt was just a short $50 flight away, they weren't able to take even a day off to go see the pyramids.

Now, they've chosen Chile as their next stop, with the hopes of making a name for themselves. They've been in town for just two months now and are already well on their way to doing so.

But it's not just about fame for the two; it's also a means of supporting their families.

Both regularly send money back to their families in Venezuela, which is in the throes of economic crisis. Inflation and price controls have left supermarket shelves empty, and many basic necessities difficult if not impossible to come by.

Josymar shares that rather than money, she directly orders boxes of supplies to be delivered to her parents. Even with the cash in hand, she says, there's no way her family could get all the things they need.

With so much experience behind them and so much to work for, we're sure that we'll be seeing a lot more from Antoni and Josymar in the near future.

Be sure to watch out for them in this December's World Latin Dance Cup!
